States RightsThe States Rights were about making their own decisions and they stuck with that idea for a long time. They debated what and which powers directly belonged to the states. During that debate the Federal Government got frustrated in the 1820's and 1830's because of the decision of whether slavery would be allowed in the new territories. The Missouri Compromise was a good solution but only lasted a short time period for ending slavery. The people in the North started to threaten the Southerns life style choices.
